The Rallye des Îles du Soleil has become a key event for sailors seeking a structured and sociable transatlantic crossing. Since its inception, this rally has brought together cruising yachts under a common goal: cross the Atlantic safely and in good company. Designed for sailors of all experience levels, the event blends adventure with safety, technical support, and shared experience.
New Departure Point in 2025
For the 7th edition in 2025, a new chapter begins. The rally will now depart from Marina Jandía in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands - an upgrade from previous launches in Lanzarote and La Palma. This newly inaugurated marina offers 310 berths and modern facilities tailored for ocean-going yachts. Surrounded by traditional Canarian architecture and natural beauty, it provides an ideal prelude to the Atlantic crossing.
Route & Key Dates
The route remains faithful to its proven structure: boats leave Marina Jandía on October 31, sail to Mindelo in Cape Verde, then cross to Marie-Galante, Guadeloupe. Participants are expected to arrive in the Caribbean between November 24–29. Prior to departure, crews gather on October 24 for essential briefings, safety checks, and provisioning.
Participation Criteria
This rally is not a race in the competitive sense - it's a flotilla format that prioritises safety, planning, and shared enjoyment. Solo sailing is not permitted; each yacht must have a minimum of two crew. The rally is open to Category A sailing yachts over 10 metres in length. All vessels must carry mandatory safety and communication equipment, including both electronic and paper charts, and maintain daily communications. One crew member - skipper or first mate - must hold a valid World Sailing Safety & Survival course certificate (including PSMer module).
The safety framework is based on French Division 240, complemented by the practical experience of the Cruise Director and support teams. A professional weather bulletin is issued daily, and each boat is tracked online for shore-based monitoring by family and friends.
Our partner brand, Fountaine Pajot, continues its longstanding support of the Rallye des Îles du Soleil, and Soproyachts encourages all Fountaine Pajot owners to join this event.
