First 30: An Award-Winning Planing Cruiser

When the new Beneteau First 30 made its world premiere at Boot Düsseldorf in January 2025, it introduced more than a new boat. It introduced a new idea: a compact planing cruiser designed to offer the exhilaration of planing with the practicality and comfort of a cruising yacht.

A Modern Success Built on a Proven Name

The First 30 follows in the wake of the original model launched in 1977, which sold close to 1,000 units and helped define performance cruising. For this new generation, Beneteau worked with Seascape and enlisted Samuel Manuard for naval architecture and Lorenzo Argento for design. Their goal was straightforward: lightweight construction, a modern hull form and simple handling that makes planing accessible to more sailors.

At 10.33 metres and 3,150 kg, the First 30 is quick to rise and effortless to sail. It is available in cruising or racing layouts, with a clear, functional cockpit and intuitive rigging. Below deck you’ll find two cabins, a comfortable saloon, a practical galley and smart storage. The Premium Pack upgrades materials, finishes and lighting.

Award-Winning Performance

Since its launch, the First 30 has achieved remarkable commercial success and rapid recognition, with 125 units sold within its first 300 days on the market. The model has already earned prestigious distinctions, including Sailboat of the Year 2025 in Norway from Seilmagasinet.no and Best Sailing Yacht under 20m at the 2025 Yacht Style Awards.

The First 30’s international acclaim was further cemented with its recent win as Performance Yacht of the Year at the 2025 British Yachting Awards, voted for by more than 5,000 sailors worldwide, ahead of strong competitors including the Saffier SL 46, XR41, ClubSwan 43, J/36, and ICE 56. It also claimed Voilier de l’Année 2026 at the Paris Nautic Show, awarded by Voile Magazine and its reader-testers, who praised its precise manoeuvring, responsive steering, and early planing under spinnaker.

Next Stop: Boot Düsseldorf 2026

The First 30 is now nominated for European Yacht of the Year 2026 in the up to 10m category, alongside the new Oceanis 52 in the up to 16m category. The winners will be announced at Boot Düsseldorf in January 2026. These nominations recognise the work of the teams behind both yachts and confirm that Beneteau and Seascape continue to set the pace in their respective categories.

As the First 30 enters its second year on the market, it does so with confidence: two major awards, strong demand and a concept that clearly resonates with sailors.
